LAURA FRANKLIN-HALL's research interests are primarily in the philosophy of biology, in particular in using biological examples to probe traditional questions in the philosophy of science, such as the nature of explanation, reduction, realism, and scientific concept formation. She is presently exploring explanations provided by mathematical models in developmental biology and their relationship to explanations found in engineering fields. Laura is the author of two papers in the Philosophy of Science, one on microbiological natural kinds, "Bacteria, Sex and Systematics," and one on experimental method, "Exploratory Experiments." | |
