Future Plans for Department of Philosophy

Future Appointments
The department intends to make several more appointments in the next couple of years at both senior and junior levels.

Bersoff Fellows
Each year, the department will have four outstanding young philosophers in residence as Bersoff fellows. These fellows will teach one course per semester.

Department Relocation
Last March we moved into our new quarters at 5 Washington Place. We occupy the whole of this beatiful six-story Victorian building, which was gut revovated explicitly to meet the department's needs by the renowned architect Steven Holl. The official opening ceremony for our new quarters will take place Thursday, March 6, 2008, 5-7pm, in the 6th floor lounge.

Biannual La Pietra NYU Philosophy Department Conference
Every other year the department holds its own small conference at NYU's Florence villa, La Pietra. The 2008 conference, Skepticism: Ancient, Modern, Contemporary, will be held June 9-11.
