JONNY COTTRELL aspires to be a nineteenth century Parisian artiste. But pending appropriate social and/or scientific advances (retrogressions?), he is resigned to pursuing his second vice, philosophy. His attention span being mercifully short, most areas of the discipline have caught his curiosity at some stage. But amongst his most frequently recurring psychological problems are doubts about reasons, in particular whether he ever has any; puzzlement over how the world could contain anything like him; and insatiable cravings for bacon double cheeseburgers at all hours of the night.

At least in New York City there’s a chance he’ll find therapy sooner rather than later.
