GINA RINI is a fifth year PhD student working primarily in the Philosophy of Mind and in Metaethics. She thinks the two most interesting philosophical questions are: just what is consciousness?; and, where do our moral intuitions come from? She doesn’t know the answer to either of these questions, but does think that answering one would shed some light on the other. Gina’s dissertation concerns the relationship between empirical moral psychology and ethical theory construction.
Gina has secondary interests in political philosophy, particularly concerning the justification of state coercive power, and the role of ethical norms in international political institutions. She is also interested in the conceptual foundations and ethical implications of mental illness diagnosis. Most of all, Gina cares a great deal about philosophical pedagogy.
Gina’s more sensible pursuits include urban hiking, reading international history, street photography, and illegally feeding the resident fauna of New York’s many public parks.
